Just because of the simple reason that it will be different, personalised and will add an oomph factor in your attire.
A boa is usually a fun accessory which adds a sensuous element to the entire costume. It can transform any boring costumes, especially evening gowns into a sexy one. In easy words, it can be termed as a scarf that too made up with feathers. By investing some extra time, you can churn your creativity with the latest trend and create wonderful ostrich plume feather boa. And needless to say, that your own feather boa will make you look more unique and different from others.
So lets begin with the process of making boa using ostrich feathers bulk.
Make a note of things that you will require to make the boa and start arranging them. The first and foremost thing you will need are feathers, braid reinforced, needle, thread, hot glue, braided cord along with a sewing machine and dye both of which are optional.
Start with choosing and examining the kind of feathers you require. Though any kind of feathers can be used to make boas, but fluffy and soft feathers are the perfect ones to make boas and Ostrich plume feathers fall in this category. Other feathers that can be used includes peacock feather, chandelle, swan feathers, coque, marabou and turkey ruff plumes. Then at the same time decide on the colour and pattern of your boa.
Then after you are done with the selection of feathers (if you are using any other than Ostrich plumes), decide on the layers of feathers in the boa. More layers refers to heavier, thicker and fluffier boa. So, it depends on you how much thicker and heavier boa you want to make.
Then decide on the length of the Ostrich plume feather boa whether its need to be long or short as per your need. Ideally its better to have a long boa as then you have a plenty of length to wrap it around your shoulder and a little bit of extra for playfulness. The length of a standard boa is two yard, but it can go long as much as you want.
Remove the feathers from the main stem and arrange them according to their size. Sew feathers that are of similar size onto the braided cord which acts as the central braid. You can also glue each of the feathers to the central braid. But in case of using glue, remember to allow it to get cool before you wear the boa. Make sure that the central braid is completely covered that 360 degrees with the feathers. The number of strips depends on the number of layers you want to have in your boa.
So, make a style statement while impressing many people at the party by flaunting your ostrich plume feather boa.
